capcompta

Overview

capcompta is built for accountants. It shows that an interface as expert as the one of dedicated accounting firm software can live natively in Dolibarr. The Dolibarr accounting module can do everything, but it is driven with the mouse, page after page: one list to bind invoices, another to transfer each journal, a third to read the general ledger. capcompta brings this work together in a single workspace, entirely usable from the keyboard, with dense grids like those of accounting firm software.

capcompta does not replace Dolibarr accounting: it is built on top of it. Same tables, same permissions, same calculation engines. What it writes, the native screens read back, and the other way round. The module declares no permission of its own and opens to nobody what Dolibarr would refuse.

It is a prototype in the sense that it is built with the people who use it: it already covers the complete accounting cycle, from binding to closing, and the feedback of the accountants, firms and companies who spend their days in these screens shapes the next versions.

Day-to-day work, without the mouse

• Binding: every sales or purchase invoice line comes with the account proposed by the Dolibarr engine. One key accepts it, another replaces it for a whole selection, and the chosen account can be remembered on the product.
• Journals: before each transfer, a preview shows the documents that are ready and names the ones that block, with a link to the line to fix. Sales, purchases, bank and expense reports.
• General ledger: list or account by account, running balance, amount filters, lettering and validation, and a jump back to the source document.
• Lettering: a panel next to the ledger, full or partial lettering, unlettering and automatic lettering.
• Trial balance: general or subsidiary, grouped by class, with the exact total of the filter always on screen.
• Miscellaneous entries: a batch typed in a grid, counterpart proposed, balance checked before writing, draft kept when you leave to check a balance elsewhere.
• Bank reconciliation: ticking lines against the statement, reconciled balance and balance after ticking always shown.

Every screen shows its shortcuts in its footer. The working period is shared by all screens.

Reviewing, closing, working with the accountant

• Review plan: the points to check before closing, each one leading to the screen that fixes it.
• Financial statements: income statement and balance sheet by main headings, and reading of the report groups set up in Dolibarr.
• FEC exports, with an optional archive of supporting documents: each PDF is named after its entry number, and missing documents are reported before the export.
• Reconciliation of the FEC sent back by the firm: added, changed or removed lines are listed movement by movement, and a movement added by the firm is written with one key.
• Year-end closing: prior checks, result entry and opening entries, locking of the entries of the closed year.
• Takeover of an existing file: opening trial balance pasted from a spreadsheet, missing accounts created in one go.

What capcompta does not do

It produces neither tax return forms nor intermediate management balances, and it does not replace the accountant: it prepares a clean FEC and reads back the one returned to you. The interface is designed for a workstation, not for a phone.

Requirements

The Dolibarr accounting module and the SmartAuth module enabled. A setup screen checks the chart of accounts, the journals, the default accounts and the fiscal year, and tells what to do for each missing point.

Interface available in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese, mobile app included.
