Collaborative decision-making inside Dolibarr, inspired by Loomio: working groups, discussions, proposals and votes, open to outside participants through public pages.

Overview

In many teams a decision is still made by email, an online poll and three chat apps at once, and nobody can later find out who voted what or why. CapDecisions brings the whole process into Dolibarr: open the discussion, turn it into a proposal, vote, and the decision stays on record with its reasons, next to the third parties, projects and members.

The module is meant for associations, collectives, boards, committees and project teams that already use Dolibarr and have to decide together. It follows the way Loomio works, without depending on that service or any other.

Working groups

  • Open, private (membership approved by an administrator) or closed (invitation only) groups.
  • Administrator, member and observer roles.
  • Group hierarchy with a parent group.
  • Members taken from Dolibarr users, members or contacts.

Discussions

  • Discussion threads in each group, with nested comments and quick reply.
  • Tags, and pinning for the important discussions.
  • Images in descriptions, reserved to the people who may edit the discussion.

Proposals and votes

A mature discussion becomes a proposal, with a closing date and one of five decision types:

  • Majority vote: for, against or abstain.
  • Consent: adopted when nobody objects, a single objection blocks it.
  • Advice process: an advisory opinion, the decision stays with the person who made the proposal.
  • Ranked vote: the options put in order.
  • Poll: one option among several, results in real time.

Everyone can change their vote while the poll is open. At closing the proposal becomes adopted or rejected, and the votes tab keeps who voted, how and why.

Public pages

A discussion or a proposal can be opened to people without a Dolibarr account, one at a time: nothing is public by default. The participant signs in with a code received by email, behind the Dolibarr captcha. Each public form checks its token, limits repeated posts, and anonymous comments go through moderation.

Languages

Interface available in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese.

Try it

A demo opens in a few seconds on dolitry.fr/capdecisions: an organisation of about fifty members, eight groups, dozens of discussions and proposals of all five decision types, with more than a year of history and votes in progress.
