SmartInterventions: The intervention report completed in the field
SmartInterventions has been available since September 26, 2023, in version 1.0.4.
The Need
A customer service technician writes up a report in a notebook, takes photos with their phone, and someone re-enters all the information into the ERP system that evening or the next day. Re-entering the data takes time, leads to details being lost, and delays billing.
An installable application, limited to its functions
The module publishes a web app that the technician installs on their phone’s home screen—on both Android and iPhone—without going through an app store. Its functionality is strictly limited to the tasks assigned to the technician: it does not provide access to the rest of Dolibarr, and logging out is just a tap away.
The list shows only pending tasks. Those that have been approved or closed are automatically removed from the list.
What the Technician Has on Hand
- the client's name and a clickable phone number to call them before arriving;
- their address, which opens in the phone's maps app;
- details of the service as entered in Dolibarr, expanded on demand if the description is long;
- a report section, which can be typed or dictated using the phone’s voice recorder;
- the time spent, in minutes;
- up to five photos taken on site.
On a construction site without internet access
The app detects when the connection is lost and switches to local storage. The log and photos are saved on the device and then sent to the server when the network connection is restored.
Back to Dolibarr
When submitted, the report and photos are added to the service ticket, and the administrative team receives an email. A configuration option automatically sets the service request to “approved” status immediately. Assigning a service request to a technician creates the corresponding event in their Dolibarr calendar on the scheduled date.
Prerequisites
Dolibarr 11 or higher, PHP 5.6 or higher. The Third-Party, Service Calls, Products, Services, Scheduled Tasks, Billing, and Document Management modules are enabled with this module.
The module is released under the GPL v3.
