ScanInvoices: The vendor invoice created from the uploaded PDF
ScanInvoices was released on January 14, 2022, as version 0.9.6.
The Need
Supplier invoices arrive as PDFs and must be entered manually: order number, date, amounts, and VAT rates. The work is repetitive, and typos go unnoticed until the accounts are reconciled.
Two Possible Ways to Read the Same PDF
When the document already contains Factur-X metadata, the module uses it: the data is accurate, so there’s no need to guess. Otherwise, the PDF is sent to an optical character recognition server, which extracts the information from it. In both cases, the module then creates the vendor invoice, and the vendor record itself if it does not yet exist.
Two Import Paths
Manual import is performed in stages, with the document displayed on the screen so you can verify what has been read before confirming. Automatic import processes the uploaded files without requiring manual intervention for each document.
Configuration
It consists of four fields: the OCR server address, the account's email address, its password, and the access key—which the module generates itself from the configuration page, with an account created on the fly if necessary. A button verifies the connection.
The recognition server can be the publisher's server or a compatible server hosted elsewhere: the address is simply a matter of configuration.
Prerequisites
Dolibarr 11 or later, PHP 7.0 or later, and outbound access to the optical character recognition server.
The module is released under the GPL v3.
