SmartDLC: Best-by dates and temperature readings recorded in the kitchen

Project : SmartDlc Editor : CAP-REL Version : v1.2.0 Date :

stable announced 2 years ago declared compatibility

SmartDLC has been available since February 23, 2024, in version 1.2.0. The repository contains earlier tags inherited from the module from which it originated: this is the first version that actually bears the name SmartDLC.

Labels

An incoming product is recorded with its type—taken from Dolibarr’s DLC dictionary—its manufacturer’s lot number, its expiration date, and its supplier. Four actions track its lifecycle: opening, partial use—when only part of a lot is used, with reference to the parent lot—and write-off, when the expiration date is reached without the product being sold.

Shelf-life periods are configured, and the new expiration date is calculated based on them. The home screen alerts you when products are nearing their expiration date.

Temperatures

The feature for recording temperatures in refrigerators and freezers can be enabled separately. The appliances are those listed in the Dolibarr resource dictionary, organized into a dedicated category: there is no separate list to maintain. The date of the last reading is displayed.

On the phone

Data entry is done through an installable web application, accessible via a dedicated URL and a QR code displayed in the settings. This is where the work takes place: in the kitchen, in the cold storage room, and at the receiving area.

Optionally, a photo of a label can be automatically read by a character recognition module, using either a remote server or a local server.

Prerequisites

Dolibarr 11 or later, PHP 7.0 or later. The DLC dictionary is used to define the types of products being tracked, and the resource dictionary is used to define refrigeration equipment.

The module is released under the GPL v3.
