Accounting Assistant: Reassign journal entries based on rules at the end of the fiscal year
Accounting Assistant was released on February 17, 2026, as version 1.2.0.
The Need
At the close of the period, the accountant notices that some journal entries were posted to the wrong account: a recurring entry that was incorrectly classified, and a suspense account that needs to be settled. Correcting them one by one takes a long time, and correcting them directly in the database leaves no record.
The Reassignment Rule
A rule consists of four elements: the source account, the destination account, a description field where a wildcard character can be used to match a string, and a time period defined by a start date and an end date.
Before applying the changes, the module displays the corresponding entries and their total number: you can see what you're about to move.
The Trail
Each rule that is applied records the number of journal entries modified, the date of application, and the user who initiated it. A year-end reconciliation is warranted, and the module provides the tools to perform it.
Rights
Four distinct permissions: read rules, create or modify them, apply them, and delete them. Creating a rule and applying it are two different actions, and they can be assigned to two different people.
Assignment Suggestions
This version adds integration with a remote service that provides accounting assignments. The connection uses the Dolibarr account’s email address; the service operates with a monthly quota of free requests, and the module may offer to contribute in return after each manual assignment. This feature is optional and governed by its own permissions.
Prerequisites
Dolibarr 14 or later, PHP 7.0 or later, and the Double-Entry Accounting module.
The module is released under the GPL v3.
