DoliPDF: Convert ODT documents created by Dolibarr to PDF

DoliPDF has been available since January 21, 2025, in version 1.0.1.

The Need

ODT document templates are easy to maintain—they can be edited in a word processor—but clients expect a PDF. Conversion usually requires installing an office suite on the server, which many shared hosting plans do not allow.

What the module does

It intercepts the document creation process: the ODT file generated by Dolibarr is sent to a conversion server, which returns the PDF. The transfer is verified using a checksum, and an error is reported if the file arrives corrupted.

The conversion takes place after the document is generated, without any manual intervention: the PDF ends up exactly where Dolibarr expects it to be.

Configuration

Three fields: the conversion server address, the account's email address, and the access key, which must be generated on the server. An option displays an on-screen notification when the key is generated, so you can monitor the process during development.

Prerequisites

Dolibarr 11 or later, PHP 7.0 or later, an ODT document template configured in Dolibarr, and an account on a conversion server.
